I can’t help myself. I just found this complaint about crowds at Disney World and had to say something about it.
Complaint about the Magic Kingdom
This is why you need to listen to Dad.
If you are going to spend hundreds of dollars to visit Disney World you should do a little homework before you go. Just a little. March is a very busy time at Walt Disney World.
Dad’s March Disney World Crowd Calendar page
Everyone on the planet (including Disney) underestimated the crowds in March. They were extreme. But even when crowds are extreme you can still have a good time in the parks.
Dad’s first rule of Disney World crowd avoidance -
Be at the park when it opens. If you arrive at 10:00 am on a busy day, you are in for a long and frustrating experience. The Magic Kingdom is the worst for crowds, so if you want do go to the Magic Kingdom when crowds are high make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before the park opens.
I understand the frustration of not getting to ride many rides. I’ve experienced it. But just a little preparation and A PLAN and you can make the most of a very difficult situation.
It’s also frustrating when rides break down. But for the most part Disney rides are very reliable. (Just try spending a day at Universal and trying to ride Spiderman.) Yes, The Haunted Mansion is prone to breakdowns, but Space Mountain has been, for the most part pretty reliable.
The bottom line is any trip to Disney World is a big investment. If you were going to invest thousands of dollars into anything you should do some homework. It’s the same for a trip to Disney World. Take a few moments, and make a plan for your day. Make sure you know when the parks open and close. Try to know the crowd patterns and how to avoid them. Yes, it’s hard work, but it’s also fun and it will pay off in the long run.
