Disney Dreamin’

Disney Cruise Line released some new pictures of the Disney Dream which is Disney’s next cruise ship. The Dream is scheduled to make it’s maiden voyage in January of 2011.

What caught Dad’s eye in the pictures was all the virtual technology. There are virtual portholes in all of the inside cabins. What are virtual portholes? Disney is placing 4 cameras on the outside of the ship. These cameras will pipe live pictures of the seas onto these virtual portholes making it seem like you are in an outside cabin with a window. Dad wonders if they are going to pump in sea smelling air too.

There is also a club on deck 4 (the bottom deck of the boat) called, oddly enough, Skyline. This club will have virtual windows that will project pictures of different skylines from cities around the world. What a concept.

Dad’s got a great idea for you Disney. Why not save some money and build a virtual cruise ship on land. (Remember, you’ve heard it here.) Imagine this. Sleeping on a cruise ship in the middle of Disney World without worrying about sea sickness. (Knowing Disney they could probably make even make you feel like you were on the ocean.)

Until then, I guess we’ll just have to make do with a new cruise ship.
