Dad was stoked. Mrs. Mom was bored. Dad was ready. The Princess was bored. Dad was pumped. The Man-Child was indifferent. (Yes, son, the word is indifferent.)
Whassup? It’s Lights Motors Action. It’s an Extreme Stunt Show. Come on. This is going to be good. This is going to be great.
We arrived 40 minutes before the show started. (No that wasn’t too early. We were in the front half of the line but there were bunches of people in front of us.) About 25 minutes before the show time, we were escorted (not really escorted, we just followed the crowds) into the stadium and found some seats.
Warning: The seats in the Lights Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show aren’t very comfortable.
We waited. Is it time yet? No, Dad, it’s just 3 minutes later than it was last time you asked. It’s still 15 minutes until show time. But I’m bored. Take some more pictures. (I took about 100 before the show started.) I was still bored, but I kept my mouth shut. Mostly.
Finally the show started. They did a few stunts. And a few more stunts. Everything was going great. Dad was having a great time. A motorcycle rider came sliding through what looked like water and ran into a building. A buzzer buzzed (isn’t that what buzzers do?) and 3 guys in fire suits ran out and started shooting the motorcycle rider with fire extinguishers.
Hey, I don’t think this is part of the show. I said very astutely. (I’m a smart guy.) Nothing happened for a couple of minutes except for the guys that had been driving the cars started coming out of the woodwork and surrounding the motorcycle guy.
I really don’t think this is part of the show. I said again for emphasis.
Finally, after about 500 minutes, an announcement was made telling us that there had been an accident and the show was over. (Actually they cancelled the shows for the rest of the day.) We saw the show later in the week and found out that the motorcycle guy had broken his arm and had to be replaced in the show. He was supposed to catch on fire, but that didn’t happen.
When it was all over, Dad was bored too.
