Hey Yall! Time for another one of my favorite things Thursday. Last week we talked about Sci-Fi Drive In at Disney Hollywood Studios. This week I will give yall all the information about my favorite ride. I gave you a small clue at the end of last week’s entry. Did any of you figure it out?
My favorite ride in Disney Hollywood Studios is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Aerosmith is the star of the show on this ride. I remember them from singing the hit song from the movie “Armageddon”. This movie may or may not have been watched on my first date lol. Today many fans recognize the lead singer Steven Tyler from being a judge on the hit show American Idol. You can catch him on this ride and also over at The American Idol Experience.
The pre show for this ride is pretty cool. Which is good because most of the time it has a rather long line. You enter into the headquartes of G-Force Records. While waiting make sure to check out the posters of other bands. You might recognize them, there is even a poster of the Backstreet Boys, my favorite from middle school.
After looking at all the cool posters and recording equipment, riders are ushered into the recording studio. It looks like Aerosmith is just wrapping up a recording session and head out to a live concert. They are super sorry they missed a chance to talk with the crowd and convince the manager to let the crowd come with them to the concert. Sounds boring right? Well the concert is on the other side of Los Angeles from where to recording studio is and time is running out before the concert. Aerosmith leaves and gets in their limo and the doors open and riders hope aboard their limos.
As riders get in they are strapped in by a device that comes over your head. Soon you will hear a countdown and lights flash and the car you are riding in goes from 0 to 60 in about 2 seconds. Wow the G Forces will get you. Then you make your way through busy LA streets with cork screws and twist and turns. The first of the two loops will pull about 5 Gs. That is more than an astronaut experience on liftoff, also more than Mission Space.
Each car has a different soundtrack to go along with the ride. These are all classic rock songs everyone loves.
- 1QKLIMO – “Nine Lives”
- UGOGIRL – “Walk this Way” and “Lovin in the Elevator”
- BUHBYE – “Young Lust”, “F.I.N.E.*” & “Love in an Elevator”
- H8TRFFC – “Back in the Saddle” & “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)”
- 2FAST4U – “Sweet Emotion”(live)
The ride ends in a back alley and opens to a wonderful gift shop. At the gift shop you can pick up Aerosmith themed items.
This is one of the top 3 rides in my book in all of Walt Disney World. A great strategy for riding this ride and Tower of Terror which is located not to far away is to get FASTPASSES from Tower of Terror and ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. It should time out pretty exact. If you get there first thing in the morning you will want to get to this ride first before the line gets to long. It is so good that Prince Charming and I rode it 2 or maybe 3 times during our trip.
