We were a little late getting to Pecos Bills and we were hungry. It was past lunch time. It was so bad I could hear The Princess’ stomach growl. The Man-Child was almost crying. But THE PLAN called for lunch at Pecos Bills (one of our favorite places), so that’s where we were going to eat.
When we got to Pecos Bills the line to order was out the door, down the street, and into the next county. Or at least that’s what it seemed like. It was long. Too long for Dad the great crowd avoider. So off Dad went in search of the shortest line. Pretty soon he found it. All the way to the left just like I’m always telling you, I said to the family.
There with almost no one in line (not a good sign) was the new-fangled, no cast member, touch-screen ordering machine. This was a thing of absolute beauty. No waiting so we, meaning me, jumped right up and started to order. I pushed the button to start the process… I pushed the button to start the process… I pushed the button to start the process and the screen came up, in French. I don’t read French. What’s the French word for start over? The screen in front of us emptied and no one was in line behind us, so I jumped up to the other screen leaving the French menu up for the next French people.
Yes, the screen had pictures, but I like to read about the food.
I pushed the button to start the process on the new screen and everything went fine. I placed our order with a little difficulty. Cheese or no cheese. It wasn’t until the third burger that I figured that one out. Drinks almost did me in.
Maybe the terminal was just having a bad day. Maybe Dad was just having a bad day. I don’t know, usually I’m pretty good with computers, but this one tore me up. I had to try three different credit cards to get one to work. It took us 30 minutes to order with this new-fangled, speed-up-the-line gizmo. What a nightmare.
I hope Disney has got the technical problems worked out with their new-fangled gizmos. I would have rather had a non-English speaking human than the ordeal we went through.
Maybe Arnold was right, it is time to take the world back from the machines. (Oops, sorry Uncle Walt, that’s at the other Orlando theme park.)

I do have to agree with you, I would rather deal with a non speaking english person then deal with the computer systems that Disney has sometimes.
I am not sure, but I do think that they fixed the problem though.
