Roller Coaster day

This has become a Dad’s Family Tradition. Each Disney trip, on the last day we have Roller Coaster day. It’s a really cool thing.

This started years ago on the Princess birthday. We asked her what she wanted for her birthday at Disney World and she said to ride all of the roller coasters. So Roller Coaster day was born. (This is Mrs. Mom’s favorite day of each trip. She doesn’t ride roller coasters. She loves it when we do.)

Typically Roller Coaster day is the last day of our trip. It’s the extra day we build in to catch anything we’ve missed. Usually it starts in Disney Hollywood Studios and ends in the Magic Kingdom. Everyone needs a family tradition like this one.

We’ll start by running to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (this is before Toy Story Mania opened, don’t know how that’s going to work now) then ride Tower of Terror. That’s it. We’re done with the Studios. Then we move over to Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom. (We used to skip the Animal Kingdom all together until EE opened.)

Next stop is Epcot where we ride Mission Space (green line for the wimps and orange for the kids) and Test Track¬†where we get through quicker by using the single rider line. That usually doesn’t take too long and then off to finish the day in our favorite park.

The Magic Kingdom. We’ll start out by grabbing a FastPass for Space Mountain and riding Buzz Lightyear. If it’s time we’ll ride Space Mountain or go over and ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Splash Mountain. If there is any time left in the day, we head back over to Buzz and ride Buzz until it’s time to go home. (This is usually the day we are flying home.)

Of course to do this you need a Park Hopper option on your tickets and that does cost $55.00 plus per person, so it’s not for everyone. But if you’ve got a Park Hopper, you might want to think about a day where you just ride everyone’s favorite rides. (That’s how this started.) It might be Dumbo, Peter Pan, The Boneyard, Honey I Shrunk the Playground and It’s Tough to be a Bug. Whatever your family likes, enjoy.

A Disney World Vacation should be all about having fun.
