A note from Dad: I challenged Danny and Stephanie to write about what they thought were the top 5 most Romantic Dates at WDW. Here’s the Female Perspective from Stephanie. I thought it would be very revealing. See Stephanie’s response here.
What makes WDW so special to me is the joy of enjoying this place with others and making unforgettable memories together. Naturally, my better half (Cara) has proven this to be true time and time again as we continue to embark on all sorts of romantic adventures across Walt Disney World.
This Valentine’s Day, although we won’t be able to be spending it in our favorite place on Earth, we’ll of course be dreaming of what we would be doing if we were there… Here are my top five ideas for a romantic date with your special someone in Walt Disney World.
Dinner at The BOATHOUSE followed by a ride in an Amphicar
I have yet to hear one bad review of this highly acclaimed (though not particularly inexpensive) restaurant! Its classy menu and atmosphere will create a wonderfully romantic setting; an Amphicar after dinner ride will be the perfect icing on the cake to add an unforgettable “wow factor” to your night. Plus, doing some shopping around Disney Springs can never hurt!
Ferrytale Wishes: A Fireworks Dessert Cruise
After spending a relaxing evening at the Magic Kingdom experiencing all of your loved one’s favorite attractions (and maybe purchasing a small sentimental gift or two), watching Wishes Fireworks Spectacular is an absolute must! But, you won’t just be experiencing this amazing nighttime display of fireworks any ordinary way – reserving two spots on the General Joe Potter ferryboat to watch Wishes from the middle of the Seven Seas Lagoon just radiates romance! There, you’ll get to enjoy many different specialty desserts and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) while the sky lights up above you. Contact Destinations to Travel for more information on how to book this unique experience.
Come to your Senses
For a fancier date, at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you can find arguably the most relaxing activity anywhere in Walt Disney World. Senses, the spa at this resort, offers a Massage for Two and a Spa for Two at this incredibly therapeutic, Victorian-themed paradise. If staying at the Grand Floridian, topping the night off with a romantic meal at one of the three signature dining locations on property (Citricos, Narcoossee’s, and Victoria & Albert’s) will not disappoint!
11 Countries, One Day
The World Showcase is packed with a seemingly infinite number of dining, shopping and entertainment opportunities for you and your loved one to spend some of the most perfect bonding time possible. Instead of a formal table service dinner, eating at multiple quick service restaurants throughout this area (perhaps Kung Pao Chicken Egg Rolls from Lotus Blossom Café at the China Pavilion, maybe an order of Tacos from La Cantina de San Angel at the Mexico Pavilion, or even the delectable School Bread from Kringla Bakeri og Kafe at the Norway Pavilion) allows for many more adventurous moments and all the more fun! Watching a gorgeous sunset across the World Showcase just before IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth provides the ultimate exclamation point to your day.
BoardWalk Games and More
To this day, a date on Disney’s BoardWalk still stands as the most romantic Cara and I have ever had in Walt Disney World! What was initially an impromptu idea turned out to be the most enjoyable date night I could imagine. Whether you’re eating dinner at a table service restaurant like Flying Fish Café (after it re-opens from its refurbishment) or ESPN Club, or a counter service dining location like the To-Go Cart or the Pizza Window (and maybe some dessert from the Funnel Cake Cart), the quality time spent here is simply exceptional. The midway games on the BoardWalk are a great chance to show off your skills and win some prizes for your partner while having tons of fun in the process. Getting to appreciate each other’s company at a rather slow pace, in comparison to the rest of WDW, in such a lively environment will result in the ideal romantic Valentine’s Day date.
What would your ideal date in WDW consist of?
Happy Valentine’s Day!
