I don’t know if Dad can get through this one without crying. (Sniff) It’s finally here. The end of one of the greatest thrill rides of all time. I still can’t believe Disney is closing Star Tours. Yep, it’s true 3p0 fans, the day of reckoning is here.
Saturday, August 14, Star Tours - Last ride to Endor shoves off. Disney can’t just close this ride quietly, like they do all the others, no, they have to put on a big party to show the world that us Star Wars fans are just a bunch of (sniff) costume wearing geeks that can’t fit in with the rest of society. Hey, here’s an idea, why don’t we boycott Disney until they bring Star Tours back? Great idea huh?
What? Really? Oh, well that changes everything. The other side of my brain that controls the rational part of me just reminded me that Star Tours in not closing forever, just getting a big upgrade (and yes, it needed it). When it opens back up, it will be better than ever.
Why do I ever doubt Disney. (Mmmm, don’t answer that.) They know what they’re doing. (Yeah, that’s why there’s still a big moat in the back of the Magic Kingdom that’s been empty for 15 years.)
OK, Disney doesn’t do everything right, but even though we’ll miss the Journey to Endor, the new and improved Star Tours should be as good as the new Star Wars. (I still like the originals better.)
Here’s a video that tells about the weekend.
