Hey yall! We have had some beautiful weather here in Oklahoma for the past few weeks. The sun is out and it has been getting warmer. Things are starting to get green and come back to life after the winter. All of this makes me think summer is just around the corner.
Summer is a great time to visit WDW. Yes you will run into more crowds and the weather can get pretty warm. With proper planning you can really enjoy a summer vacation at WDW. There are lots of wonderful events and happening at WDW this year. Disney has come up with something for everyone.
This summer Disney is opening a new hotel called Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. This looks like a pretty cool resort to stay at for families and couples alike. Each room is themed with something from a Disney movie or a Disney-Pixar film. These fan favorites will include Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid. This resort is sure to be a ton of fun for everyone.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is taking a hint from Mrs. Mom’s favorite resort breakfast at Everything Pop at the Pop Century. They are opening the Landscape of Flavor food court at the resort. This is going to similar to the Pop Century in that it will contain 5 stations that serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each station will feature a different items and the food is made fresh to order.
As we all know Dad and Mrs. Mom are going on a cruise in October. The Disney Fantasy is the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line and is set for it maiden voyage on March 31, 2012. This cruise offers lots of exciting options for family. There will be 2 Broadway-style shows: Wishes and Disney’s Aladdin-A Musical Spectacular. Passengers can have their little girls made over to become princesses while young boys can become swash bugling pirates on Pirate nights.
I can hear one of Dad’s favorite groups the Beach Boys singing in my head “Let’s go surfing now, everybody’s surfing now, come on a safari with me”. Guest can now go surfing at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. Disney has brought in pro-surfers to give lessons to guests who want to learn how to surf. This 2 and half hour lesson can be before your trip and will cost around $150. The lesson will happen early in the morning before park hours. Then during the day guests are invited to hang 10 in the wave pool.
In the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex the AAU Boys and Girls National Championships will be happening from July 3 to August 4th. Coaches and teams from all around the country will come to compete for the championship. Many NCAA coaches and a few pro scouts will be watching for potential stars. Many greats such LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, and Dwayne Wade played AAU ball and competed in the championships.
With all of these great things happening this summer at WDW and the new Fantasyland opening, you need to plan a trip. Call your travel agent and book a trip as soon as possible. Dad will be more then happy to help you book a trip to enjoy these wonderful new features at WDW.
