The Mad Tea Party – The Rest of the Story
I think I might have said this already, but Dad has just a wee problem with things that go in circles. It’s probably the whole reason Dad is the way he is today.
Here’s the story…
It all started when Dad just a wee lad of around 6. Dad was a true first child. He was confident, secure, all in all almost perfect. Everyone loved Dad as a child. Dad has a sister that’s about 2 years younger. She’s a true second child, impish, deceitful, mischievous (I am being nice).
Our Great Grandparents lived in California, near Anaheim. Our family went to visit them. My Great Grandpa was a fun loving guy. He took all of us to Disneyland (there was another younger sister but she’s not important to this story). We all had our ticket books and ran around trying to ride as many rides as we could. We had a ball.
Except for…
The Mad Tea Party. We had to stay together and my sister just had to ride the Mad Tea Party ride. I didn’t really want to. I wanted to check out the Wedway people mover to see if I could figure out how the magnetic levitation (maglev) system worked. Did I say I was a smart child?
The door on the ride slid to a close on the Tea Cup and off we went. I was OK until little sis started making the Tea Cup spin. (Jane stop this crazy thing…) Mom, I said sweetly, would you ask her to stop. I said. OK maybe I screamed like a stuck pig but sis didn’t stop. She just laughed and spun faster. (I told you she’s evil.) I asked (screamed) for her to stop for 15 minutes (yes, I know the ride only lasts for 2 minutes, but I spun for a long time).
The moral of the story…
Parents, sometimes even the best adjusted of children are sensitive to motion sickness. It’s a physical handicap and should be treated as such. Don’t let one deranged child ruin all of the fun for the others. It could damage them for life.
I’m OK, really.
