“The Man-Child will love the Tiki Room”
Dad knows everything. Especially about his family. Dad is one tuned in dude.
One of Dad’s favorite Adventureland attractions is the Enchanted Tiki Room. Since Dad was a little tike, (yes, dear that was a long time ago) he’s loved the Tiki Room. I just love that song…
“All the birds sing words and the flowers croon”
“In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room”
It’s just the greatest show ever (until the “New Management” showed up, but that’s another story).
Dad just knew that the Man-Child would share his love for the Tiki Room. The Man-Child loves animals, especially birds, what 4 year old doesn’t love bird shows. It’ll be perfect.
We arrived at The Enchanted Tiki Room (this was before the “New Mangement” took over) at around 4:00 pm. (Right on schedule, I might add) Everyone was a little cranky. A nice relaxing show in a cool, calm, atmosphere was just what the doctor ordered.
We sat down on our bench and waited for the show to start. The Man-Child laid down next to his mother and proceeded to go to sleep. “Hey, wake up, big guy, you’ll love this.” Nothing. I couldn’t wake him up.
Mrs. Mom told me to let him sleep. “It’s the Tiki Room” I said. “He’ll miss it. We came 3000 miles and no son of mine is going to miss the Tiki Room. WAKE UP!”
He didn’t and the show started, so I had to quiet down.
That rat slept through the whole show. He woke up after the show and was fine for the rest of the evening.
The really sad thing (for Dad) is that since then, every time we’ve gone to the Tiki Room, the Man-Child has taken a nap. Even when he was 19 years old.
It’s the Man-Child’s Favorite Adventureland Attraction.
PS. The Man-Child likes to sleep.
