Hey yall! It is the middle of summer and the weather is just unbearably hot all around the country. This includes our favorite place on earth Walt Disney World. Over the years the imagineers have come up with many brilliant attractions that sometimes create long lines. In the summer some of those lines are outside. Guests can build up a sweat walking from attraction to attraction. Never fear readers I have found many solutions to this problem. Each day this week I am going to highlight how to cool down at each park.
Let’s start with the hardest park to stay cool in, the Animal Kingdom. If you want to see the animals they will be playing outside. There are a few places to rest and cool off. I suggest planning on seeing all of these during your day. The Animal Kingdom does close at sundown so I also suggest making dinner reservations at one of the resort restaurants where the air will be nice and cool.
The Festival of the Lion King is a great place to cool down after walking around for a bit. This gives guests a chance to sit in the air conditioner for 30 minutes or longer. The show last for 30 minutes but the pre show starts about 15 minutes before the main show. This is also one of the most entertaining shows at Walt Disney World.
In Dinoland USA there are 2 great places to cool down. The first is the wait area for the attraction DINOSAUR. You may have to wait outside for a bit but once you get in there is a long line that loops around the T-Rex skeleton. This area is in the air conditioning which is nice if you have been waiting out in the heat. The FASTPASS line is in the air conditioning as well.
The other spot to cool off is Finding Nemo – The Musical. This is again a 30 minutes show. This show may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Children are going to love the show after they get used to the dark theater. The benches for the show are not the most comfortable. If you have children who love Nemo then grab a drink and watch the show.
The last place to cool off in Animal Kingdom is the Kali River Rapids. Guests hop on their boats and take off down the rapids. During the ride down the rapids guests will get wet. (This is why Mrs. Mom suggests bringing 2 pairs of shoes and lots of socks.) Guests can even shoot each other with squirt guns after the ride. It is not a long ride but might be a great way to cool off before leaving Animal Kingdom to go back to the resort to take a nap or go to dinner.
Check back each day this week for more ways to cool off at other park at Walt Disney World. The biggest piece of advice I have for guests coming to Walt Disney World this time of year: drink lots of water. I know it is vacation and many people tend to drink lots of soda during vacation but I am here to tell you it is healthier to stock up on water.
