Why you use a Disney World Travel Agent – Cool Story

The Free Dining offer and the up to 30% off a room offer expire next Saturday (9/29). If you’re even thinking about going to Walt Disney World between now and Christmas, you should get your request in TODAY. Of course, I’d suggest you use Pixie and Pirate Destinations, but I’m a bit prejudice.

Here’s why I always suggest you talk to a Disney World specialist when booking your trips. I got this note today from one of the Pixies over at Pixie and Pirate Destinations. I’ll let her tell the story.

2 adults and 1 little 4 year old girl. They wanted to go to WDW from November 2nd  to the 8th. I knew that sounded like free dining time, but I wasn’t sure. Dangit, just missed it. If they checked in on the 1st, though, they could get free dining. I thought I’d ask and tempt them with all mighty free dining anyway. $2000 vs. $2700 is a big money saver, if they could only just move back. They responded. They could! Yay! So I started running numbers for them for other moderates (per their request) and stumbled upon the Royal Guest Room with a Garden View at the Port Orleans Riverside. It was the only room left in Riverside as far as I could tell for free dining, and Port Orleans was already completely booked. I just threw it in there anyway because it was still moderately priced and hey, who doesn’t want to stay in a royal room?
They responded, asked a few questions, and then came back to me at 9 at night yesterday saying they decided they wanted the Royal Guest Room. Fine by me, so I looked it up (I couldn’t put courtesy holds on them because it was less than 45 days away) and.. gone. It was gone. Someone stole my precious princess room while my clients were thinking about it. My heart sank. I already had to tell their daughter that the
Little Mermaid rooms were sold out (and not participating in the free dining anyway) and now I almost had to tell her that the princess room was gone, too. (She LOVES princesses.) I started working the numbers around — oh gosh, what if they checked in on Halloween, or left earlier, or, or, or.. and then I saw the room again, from November 1st to the 8th — a day later than what they wanted. But why the heck was it available from the 1st to the 8th but not the 1st to the 7th? This was one I had to call Disney for. Since it was 9:15 at night, I had no wait time getting on the TA line and we started trying to figure out the mystery. She couldn’t figure it out either, but she did put a 24 hour hold on it and said we could just tweak the courtesy hold when they book it. The day was saved, and my blood pressure went back to normal. Crisis averted.
Emailed the family telling them I was able to get THE LAST princess room for them and they were ecstatic. I booked them this morning.
Now I am off to find as much princess dining for their little princess. It may be difficult, but that’s what us pixies (and pirates) do.

If this family had called Disney or tried to book this online, they might have been disappointed. Even if they found a reservation, they would still have to spend hours trying to find Princess dining. This is just one (of many) reasons why you should always use a travel agent that specializes in Walt Disney World. (Again, I highly recommend Pixie and Pirate Destinations.) Service. It’s important.

I think using a travel agent is good for some. Personally, I need to have complete control over my vacation. I wouldn’t be able to do it.
